Hey LIP friends... I'm looking for price info from La Rosa. I don't know the proper name but it's the swanky restaurant on the water. The website is very very nice but not idea on the $$$. Help, please!

If it's the one I'm thinking of that sits on it's own pier over the ocean it was about $25 US per person when we dined there back in 2006. So maybe 30-35 per person now? Bear in mind we don't drink so the price I gave was for a split app. and dinner for 2. If anything we may have had 1 drink each.

The service was very good, the wait staff was as good as a place in the same price range back home. We didn't order the most expensive items on the menu but didn't skimp either. I had a good steak can't recall what Manie had but we stayed away from fish, just because.

La Rosa Nautica

There is the link. We've been there a couple of times. My husband loves the ambiance. Lunch is lovely as you are watching the sea and the view has very nice and calming effect (I need it, when in Lima, lol). Food, nice presentation but nothing fantastic. I always go for the Lomo Saltado, and I had better ones in smaller places in Lima. I avoid seafood, not to jinx it but my girlfriend's fiancee (he was an American just visiting) got very sick after having Risotto with some shellfish. We try to go at lunch time, because at night it is pitch black and we cannot enjoy the view of the sea.

Hope you enjoy it.
Lomo Saltado rules!

Another place that my wife and I liked is the Salto de Fraile http://www.elsaltodelfraile.com/ We were there about two years ago and we really liked it. We ate kind of early and had the place to ourselves.....the girls (four and three years old at that time) got on the dance floor and had a blast discoing!!!!! I'd agree with going before nightfall so you can see the ocean.....

We go to Rosa Nautica whenever in Lima. The locale is very nice indeed, especially if you get a table by a window. We've had Ceviche, tiradito, algarrobina, pisco sours whilst looking out over the waves at the surfers. Simply can't say enough good things about the place.

BTW, their bar faces the other side of the pier and it's great as well.

Hope your experience is a nice one. :peru:

Though I've eaten at La Rosa Nautica many times in the past and the setting is unique, I reckon it's somewhat over rated.
There are much better places to eat in Lima now and far more reasonably priced.

I agree. Senoriodesulco.com is much better for a decent price.

Yes, La Rosa Nautica.
Some pix and description on first Lima post of my Peru blog -- just scroll down past account of buying a car.
Recommend it: particularly right at sunset, with surfers gliding past, it's very, very pleasant; service and ambiance excellent; food good but in my view would be overpriced if not for the lovely, romantic atmosphere. Lima's a paradise for good food.
Enjoy!

I proposed to my wife to be at La Rosa Nautica (Valentines Day 2006) so it holds dear memories for me. The food is good, but compared with other seafood restaurants the menu isn´t, perhaps as contemporary as Pescados Capitales, as skilled as La Mar or as careful with detail as Kapallaq but what La Rosa Nautica has is location, nestled beautifully at the end of a pier out on the Pacific. I have spent several delightful Friday afternoons there: ceviche, pisco sour (which is very good), with family, friends, colleagues - a perfect culinary experience.

The La Rosa Nautica management team has also opened another beautiful restaurant in Lima - Casa Hacienda Moreyra in San Isidro. Set in a magnificent, restored country house overlooking Camino Real, it serves traditional Peruvian cuisine with a slightly modern twist. This is a lovely restaurant: get a chance to go if you can: prices similar to those for La Rosa Nautica.

And an excellent but often overlooked seafood restaurant with sea views is Francesco, on the clifftop road - address Malecon de la Marina 526, Miraflores. Locals rate it one of the very best restaurants in Lima, so good in fact that the family Francesco has successfully expanded to Miami and more recently to Buenos Aires. Only open lunchtimes this is also well worth a visit. I've only been once, some years ago but it was a memorable lunch.

Appreciate the good tips on Casa Hacienda Moreyra and Francesco's. Always on the lookout for recommended places in Lima since there are so many excellent ones to choose from. Francesco's seems to be all about italian peruvian cuisine and the variations on seafood dishes look simply amazing. Casa Hacienda Moreyra on the other hand looks like a great venue with a very impressive history dating back to the 1500s! Wow.
