I am currently working for LivinginPeru.com, as Assistant Chief Editor (taking over Ben Jonjak's position after he left for the States). I love the job, and I love the website, and I am happy to be a part of this community. I hope to use the forum on a weekly basis to ask questions of our readers and get some feed back on the series that LIP has been publishing, as well as the content and layout of the website. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions, ideas or suggestions for the website! Thanks!

Welcome Katrina to LIP. Since you stated not to hesitate to ask a question,I guess I"ll ask one then. On the home page of LIP I notice that when you click on a story that contains a "comment",the comment isn"t there. Is there a reason for this? Hope you have a great experience with LIP.

Steven,
I've always though I was quick to judge but my goodness! In the OP's defense she did say she will be using the forums on a "WEEKLY BASIS".
Give the woman a chance before we pound her over the head.
Breath deep, hold it, hold it, hold it.... exhale.
You assume all risk for your use. The author is not responsible for your inability to understand logic, ambiguous references, sarcasm, the imaginary friends living inside my head or William Shatner's acting ability.

Sorry about the wait. As David noted, I will be using the forums on a weekly basis. I am not used to being part of a forum, so I apologize as I get used to this.
The reason the comments do not appear right away is because we need to moderate them. There is a small glitch in the system it seems, that shows that a comment has been posted, but it doesn't appear until we approve it (which may be between minutes and hours). I hope this answers your question.
To 08087, I am from rural Minnesota, and I came to Lima in March of 2008 to study abroad in the university La Católica. I chose Peru because I had a choice between Lima and Chile, and to be quite honest, I couldn't understand Chilean Spanish to save my life. When I got to Peru, I fell in love with the country and decided to come back after graduation. So, I've been here since May of this year, and I am thoroughly enjoying my time here in Lima, especially my rides on the combis (as you will see in my "controversial" article here).
Hope this answers the questions, and again, I apologize about making you wait Steven.

That's because Chileans speak Chilean, not Spanish
The odd thing is, when I visit Chile, communication doesn't seem to be a problem. Speaking with Chilean friends that live in Peru, however, provides a greater challenge. . .perhaps that's another tactic, as well?

Hey I've got a brother that moved to Minn about 25 yrs. ago then moved onto S.D. after his marrige broke up.
I just read your story on the bus system here in Peru, many people have opinions that differ from yours. I know I'd hate the system if my pocket got picked or my wife's butt got grabbed! But the busses themselves I do enjoy, it's what helps make Lima, Lima!
